Harvest rolls out

Harvest has officially begun, with the first reports of grain delivery coming in from the Ritzville Warehouse elevators in LaCrosse July 10. Three farmers brought their grain in the first day with mostly soft white and some hard red winter wheat. “So far it’s looking pretty good,” said Ashley Goolsby, scale girl at LaCrosse. Harvest started at Pampa Pond on July 12 and at Hay Monday. Early numbers put the crop at 59.4 pounds per bushel. Estimates of bushels per acre should be similar to last year’s in the 80s. Official numbers were not available as of press time.
