Uniontown hires second officer

Arrangements are being made for a new part-time police officer to begin work in Uniontown. Shane Emerson, an officer with the Pullman Police Department, has been hired to join Uniontown part-time with Police Chief Dan Hargraves. The two officers will cover Uniontown on a varying part-time schedule. Hargraves is also a Pullman officer.

Starting the service had been delayed until town attorneys finish a hold-harmless agreement which deems that neither entity is liable for what an officer may do in the other.

Uniontown has been without a second officer for almost a year since Casey Green, now a full-time officer for Moscow, resigned.

Mayor Dave Jacobs anticipates Emerson could begin duty in the next two weeks.
