Emergency landing made on Rock Lake

An amphibious airplane experiencing engine problems made an emergency landing on Rock Lake Monday afternoon. St. John Fire Department received the call at 2 p.m. and responded and found the plane had landed near Johnson's Beach. No one was injured.

Responders used a boat to tow the plane to the fire department's dock, and the pilot used the phone at the shop to call a mechanic.

The pilot and plane, registered to the state of Alaska, departed for Coeur d'Alene Tuesday morning.

Rosalia Fire Department also responded to the initial call with an ambulance and truck.
