Last week’s hunt for two suspects in the fatal shooting in Troy, Idaho, ended on Friday, July 21, when the two teenagers were arrested without incident in Curlew, Wash., 10 miles from the Canadian border.
Keagan Tennant, 17, and Matthew McKetta, 18, are suspected in the shooting of 18-year-old Pullman High School student Tim Reeves, who is believed to have been killed Monday, July 17. His body was discovered in the woods near Troy July 19. He is believed to have died from a single gunshot wound to the head.
The suspects waived extradition Monday afternoon in Ferry County Superior Court and are expected to be taken to Latah County to eventually stand trial in Moscow.
According to a Lewiston Tribune report, Tennant is being charged as an adult and is charged with involuntary manslaughter, attempted murder in the first degree, principal to destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence and conspiracy to commit destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence. McKetta is being charged with principal to failure to notify coroner or law enforcement of a death, conspiracy to commit failure to notify coroner or law enforcement of death, principal to destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence, conspiracy to commit destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence. All charges against both teens are felonies.
In the aftermath of the murder, Tennant and McKetta are said to have allegedly stolen a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix at gunpoint from a pizza delivery driver in Moscow, which they then drove to Curlew.
Tennant is the adopted son of Pullman Police Commander Chris Tennant. A Pullman Police Department Facebook posting Friday morning noted Commander Tennant, who has not been in regular contact with his son, actively assisted investigators in locating him.
