The funeral for Mark S. Hawley, 66, long-time resident of Viola, was Saturday, July 22, at the Moscow Church of the Nazarene. Burial followed at the Viola Cemetery.
Mr. Hawley died July 17, 2017, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane where he had been under treatment following a heart attack July 5.
Born Feb. 16, 1951, in Moscow to Rolland and Glenda Fleener Hawley, he grew up on the family farm four miles north of Moscow and graduated from Moscow High School with the class of 1969. He attended Spokane Community College and graduated with a degree in diesel mechanics in 1971. He worked for Wally Orvik Chevrolet, farmed with his dad and worked for General Telephone before he started working for the North Latah County Highway District in 1986 where he was employed until he retired in 2014. He also operated an excavation business.
Mr. Hawley and Barb Millerwere married in Potlatch Dec. 3, 1976, and had made their home in Viola since that time. He enjoyed hunting, horse packing and camping, motorcycles and snowmobiles and caring for the 30-acre Hawley family forest. He was a former volunteer for Moscow Rural Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife Barb, Viola; mother Glenda Hawley, Moscow; brothers Lee and Kyle Hawley, Moscow and Stan Hawley, Viola, and sister Carol Dellinger, Kelseyville, Calif.

John C. Eastburn, 66, of Pullman, passed away July 20, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman, Washington.
