A digital archive of Neill Public Library’s Palouse Heritage photograph collection is now available for online viewing. The initial offering includes photographs depicting the devastating 1910 flood of the South Fork Palouse River, early images of Washington State College and the Lewiston Round-up.

This project is supported, in part, with Library Services and Technology Act funding provided by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Washington State Library.

Parenting

workshops

slated for Tekoa

Tekoa Library and Healthy Tekoa Coalition will host two free parenting workshop series. Classes are tailored for specific age groups of children.

Both workshop series will be at the Tekoa Library from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Both classes offer free snacks, a completion gift certificate worth $20 and supplies.

For parents of children 2 - 8, "Incredible Years" parenting workshops will be Wednesdays starting Sept. 13. Class topics include academic and persistence coaching, emotional literacy, social and self-regulation skills, problem solving and child-directed play.

For parents of children in the 9-14 age bracket, Guiding Good Choices parenting workshops begin Oct. 25 and runs through Nov. 29. Topics will cover preventing problem behaviors, developing clear and healthy beliefs, controlling anger and strengthening family bonds.

Cybersecurity Essentials for Work and Home

Michael J. McCully addresses concerns about keeping information safe and secure in a presentation titled “Cybersecurity Essentials for Work and Home” on Thursday, Aug. 3, at 6:30 p.m. at the Uniontown Library and Thursday, Aug. 17, at 6 p.m. at the Rosalia Library.

During the presentation, McCully will provide practical advice that everyone needs to know including identity theft and phishing defenses, preventing malware, common web attacks, safely browsing the Internet, making secure purchases, recognizing an exploited computer, securing social media, hacking yourself first and more.

McCully is a certified information systems security professional (CISSP), certified ethical hacker (CEH) and information systems security officer at National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA.)

Appel, Michael Joseph, born July 19 at nine pounds, two ounces, to Neil and Liz Appel, LaCrosse. Paternal grandparents are Dick and Helen Appel, Endicott. Maternal grandparents are Joe and Mary Beth Philipp, Kingwood, Texas. Baby joins siblings Joshua, Noemie, Isaac, John Paul and Grace.
