Cherry Sisters

The Cherry Sisters Revival will perform Saturday, Aug. 5, at 7 p.m. at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown. Admission will be $15, and the doors will open at 6 p.m. The string band includes ukuleles, banjo, percussion and vocals.

They work at getting the audience to participate in their performances.

Formed in the spring of 2015, they have performed around the region, including The Green Frog and Palouse Caboose in Palouse, One World Café, the Moscow Food Co-Op, Moscow Brewery, the Hunga Dunga Brewing Company in Moscow and Merry Cellars in Pullman.

Members Tracie Brelsford and Connie Steiger were born and raised in Pullman. Shelly Gilmore lives in Moscow and met Connie at the Ukulele Players of the Palouse. After attending a ukulele band camp, Shelly and Connie learned several songs in the traditional and jug band genre and became hooked on the feel and vibe of that Americana-type of music.

Lowder-Doyle

exhibit at Dahmen

Jade Lowder and J. Casey Doyle will host an exhibit at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn, the Hay Loft Gallery, in Uniontown. The opening reception will be Sunday, Aug. 6, from 1-3 p.m. and the exhibit will continue through Aug. 27.

Lowder’s contemporary paintings in oil and graphite examine images of spaces, places and people that we find important in our day-to-day lives.

Doyle’s ceramics, The “Hir” Brush series, explores the gender-neutral third person singular pronoun questioning the need and comfort of assigning gender to people and objects.

Lowder was born in 1989 on a reservation in Montana and received an arts degree from Montana State University in 2012 and his masters degree in painting from Washington State University in 2015. Doyle is an associate professor of art and design at the University of Idaho.
