The ninth annual Stuff the Bus Drive is currently ongoing throughout the county in an effort to obtain school supplies for local students.
The Kiwanis Clubs of Pullman and Moscow are sponsoring the drive for the Pullman, Moscow and Colton/Uniontown school districts, as well as the Colfax School District.
Items can be dropped off at the Colfax branch of the Whitman County Library or Neill Public Library in Pullman during business hours from Aug. 7 to 12. They can also be dropped off at Whitman Hospital and Medical Center in Colfax. In Pullman, items can also be dropped off at the P1FCU office inside of Walmart and the WSECU branches on Bishop Boulevard and in the WSU Compton Union Building. Additionally, Zoe Coffee & Kitchen on Main Street in Pullman is also accepting items through Aug. 12.
In addition to the drop-off locations, a school bus will be present at select places for items to be dropped off. On Thursday, Aug. 10, busses will be at Dissmore's in Pullman and at Staples at the Palouse Empire Mall in Moscow from 2-5 p.m. The following day, busses will be at the same locations from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday, Aug. 12, the busses will return to those locations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In Colfax, a bus will be at Rosauers on Friday, Aug. 11, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, Aug. 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In Colton, a bus will be on the highway on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
Pullman schools have requested three-ring binders, one and two-inch college ruled notebook paper, spiral notebooks (wide ruled and college ruled), composition notebooks, notebook dividers with pockets, folders with bottom pockets, pencil pouches and boxes, pencils and pencil sharpeners, 4.5 inch or five inch scissors, rulers, backpacks, crayons, colored pencils, pens, dry erase markers, yellow highlighters, erasers, glue sticks and sticky notes.
The Colfax schools have requested yellow highlighters, markers, fine point black Sharpies, colored pencils, pencils, hand held pencil sharpeners, pencil boxes, erasers, glue sticks, red ball point pens, 3x5 index cards and tabbed dividers.
A full list of items can be found at kiwanisclubofpullman.org. The list there also includes items requested by the Moscow School District.
Donated items will be distributed to eligible students by the schools. Cash donations are also being accepted online at kiwanisclubofpullman.org/donate or by mail to the Kiwanis Club of Pullman, PO Box 716, Pullman, WA 99163.
