With the annual National Lentil Festival fast approaching next weekend, event registration closing is near.
A number of sporting events are booked for the festival run, with most of them booked for Saturday, Aug. 19.
The registration deadline for the 3-on-3 Hoop Classic tournament is tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 11. Registration forms can be dropped at the Pioneer Center in Pullman or mailed to Pullman Parks and Recreation at 240 SE Dexter St. The team entry fee is $65, and entry is open to anyone in the third through eighth grade for the 2017-18 school year.
There will also be a coloring contest sponsored by the Palouse Discovery Science Center, and entry deadline for that is also on Friday, Aug. 11. Those entries can be dropped off at either the Palouse Discovery Science Center or the Pullman Chamber of Commerce. All of the entries will be displayed in the Lentil Land Kid's Area on Saturday, Aug. 19, and prizes and judging will be done by the Palouse Discovery Science Center and awarded by age group.
The annual Tase T. Lentil 5K Fun Run sponsored by Snap Fitness had early registration close last week, but registration will be accepted until 8 p.m. at the race check-in booth Friday, Aug. 11. Pre-race packet pick-up will also be available at the same site until 8 p.m. that day, and those who do not pick them up that night will have to do so on Saturday morning at the Pufferbelly Depot between 6:45-7:15 a.m. The fun run begins at 7:30 a.m.
The Tase T. Lentil Mini-Golf Tournament is also returning to the Airway Hills Golf Course this year, and teams of 2-6 players must register online by tomorrow, Aug. 11.
The Tour deLentil 50K, 100K and 150K bike ride is scheduled for Sat., Aug. 19, and early registration closed last month. However, registration is allowed until the day of the event, with the day-of registration location at the WSU horticulture gardens at the east entrance to the Lighty Student Services building. Registration is $45 for the 50K, $55 for the 100K and $65 for the 150K. Online registration is still open at cycling.wsu.edu.
New this year is the Circles of Caring Tennis Tournament. Participants can register up to Monday, Aug. 14, for women's and men's adult singles, women's and men's under 22 singles, women's and men's doubles and mixed doubles. Participants can also sign up for the “Play with a Cougar” bracket to be matched with the WSU tennis player for a doubles tournament. Cost is $30 for one event, $50 for two events or $130 for the “Play with a Cougar” bracket plus one event. Registration costs include a T-shirt. Each participant is guaranteed two matches per event.
