Mudslinging
set at Dahmen
A benefit for the new kiln shed at Dahmen Barn in Uniontown will be Saturday, Aug. 12, between 5 and 9 p.m. The mudslinging extravaganza will feature live music by Bodie Dominguez and pottery demonstrations with beer from Riverport Brewing Company and wine from Clearwater Canyon Cellars for sale.
In just a year, the new ceramic studio has outgrown its space and the kilns and glazing materials need to be moved out of the studio. Local contractor Stephen Vachon donated his time to organize construction of the kiln shed, and funds are needed for materials and other work.
Local artists will create pottery on the wheel in live competition, and attendees can see the firing process turn raw clay into bowls and vases which will be available at silent auction. There will be many clay demonstrations throughout the evening including a ceramic mold making demonstration by J. Casey Doyle, hand building demonstration by Ed Brannon, and a barrel fire demonstration by studio instructors Kassi Smith and Deb Robinson Smith.
Admission will be $5 per person, and all proceeds will go toward the new kiln shed at the Dahmen Barn. Food and beverages will be available.
