The segregated census reports of the two chief cities of Whitman County – Colfax and Palouse – have been made up from the rolls returned by deputy assessors in the assessor's office. They report the population of these cities as follows:

Colfax––Total population 2257. Of these 1332 are males and 925 females. Their colors are: White, 2187; black, 11; Chinese, 59. Married, 832; single, 1425.
