Thursday, Aug. 10 – Sunday, Aug. 13

All 14 branches of Whitman County Library are closed for annual maintenance. Online services such as our digital collection of audio and ebooks, Microsoft Imagine Academy, Rural Heritage and more are available through the library’s website at http://www.whitco.lib.wa.us. Please note, access to the library’s online catalog may be interrupted on Aug. 10, due to a system upgrade. The catalog should be operational by midday Aug. 10. Thank you for your understanding.

Thursday, Aug. 10

Colfax – 4 to 7:30 p.m. – Rising Stars Dance – Summer classes are available. Contact Keri at 432-6961 for more info.

Saturday, Aug. 12

Rosalia – 9 to 11 p.m. – Perseid Meteor Shower – Teens are invited to join Ms. Marcy and the Teen Advisory Council in the parking lot of Pinewood Cottage at 208 W. 2nd Street in Rosalia to watch the meteor shower. Dress warmly.

Monday, Aug. 14

St. John – 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Energy Assistance – Anita Peterson from Community Action Center will be assisting low income households with home energy costs. Call 1-800-482-3991 for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Colfax – 1 to 3 p.m. – Kids Coding Camp – Kids ages 12 and up, join us for Coding Camp Part 3: More Arduino Projects.

Oakesdale – 5 p.m. – Solar Eclipse – What is a solar eclipse and why does it occur? Is Oakesdale in the path of totality? Where is the best spot to view this cosmic event? Find out at the library and pick up a pair of special viewing glasses.

LaCrosse – 6:30 p.m. – Book Club – Join us for a discussion of "Blue Heaven" by C.J. Box. Bring a snack to share.

Albion – 7:30 p.m. – Book Club – You are invited to talk about Neil Gaiman’s novel, “American Gods,” with neighbors.

Tuesday, Aug. 15

Albion – 10 to 11:30 a.m. – Toddler Time – Little ones (age 0-5) and their grownups, come play and interact with friends.

Farmington – 2:30 p.m. – Storytime – Join us for reading, playing and making friends. Fun for children and families.

Colfax – Yoga – Soothe sore muscles with gentle stretching yoga at 12 p.m. or find inner peace with YinVasa at 5:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 16

St. John – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Teen Cooking – Learn how to make a delicious summer meal for your family and friends. Come hungry to taste test your culinary creations. Grades 7 through 12 are welcome.

Garfield – 1 p.m. – Random Acts of Kindness Storytime – This special storytime features books designed to inspire children to act selflessly and to think about others. A list of “Random Acts of Kindness” will be handed out for kids to try.

Uniontown – 3 p.m. – Jump Rope Project – Kids age 10 and older can reduce, reuse, recycle by making plastic bag jump ropes.

Uniontown – 5:30 p.m. – Pajama Storytime – Bring kids to the library in their PJs for crafts, popcorn and a great story.

Thursday, Aug. 17

Colfax – 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. – WSU Cleans up Colfax – WSU's Center for Civic Engagement will be cleaning up Main Street, helping out the school and city library. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Kristie at [email protected].

Colton – 3 p.m. – Jump Rope Project – Kids 10 and older are welcome to participate in making plastic bag jump ropes. Rosalia – 3 to 5 p.m. – Overdrive and Technology Help – Nichole will be available to help navigate Overdrive, the library's free digital book source and answer your questions along with providing assistance with other tech related inquiries.

Colton – 6 p.m. – Pajama Storytime – Put on your PJs, bring your favorite stuffed animal and enjoy a bedtime story.

Rosalia – 6 p.m. – CyberSecurity Essentials - Mike J. McCully (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) will be discussing concerns such as identity theft and web attacks in a presentation focused on security at work and home.

Tekoa – 6 to 7:30 p.m. – Family Game Night – Take a break from the heat and play board games with family and friends.

Colfax Hyde Out – 6:30 p.m. – Trivia Night – Bring your team, test your knowledge and WIN great prizes. We will have a SPECIAL PICTURE CATEGORY tonight. See you there.

Endicott – 7 p.m. – Ladies’ Night – Join us for a rousing book discussion and feel free to bring a snack to share.
