Serving Whitman County since 1877
A Frank Gurney, Inc., crew from Spokane will install more guardrails on Endicott-St. John Road starting in mid-September. The work, contracted by Whitman County Public Works, will continue a project that was halted this spring when a fiber optic line needed to be moved by St. John Telephone Co.
An estimated 3,000 feet of guardrail will now be placed on four to five separate stretches of road between Endicott and St. John.
The project is paid for as part of a $750,000 grant from the Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act of 2015.
“There are still some stretches that need guardrail,” said Mark Storey, Public Works director, who just filed an application to fund guardrails on Pullman-Wawawai Road.
