Peters duo marks 50th anniversary

Don Peters and Monica Bartlett were married Sept. 1, 1967, at Westminster Congregational United Church of Christ in Spokane. Don was born and raised in Pasco, and Monica in Tekoa. They met on their first day of college at Washington State University in the fall of 1964. After they both graduated from WSU in February of 1969, they moved to Georgia where Don attended signal officer basic training. They lived for a short period in New Jersey and then moved back to Georgia.

While Don served in Vietnam (1970-71), Monica lived in Tekoa with their two children.

The couple then lived in Spokane from 1971-74 before moving in July of 1974 back to Pullman, where they have resided since.

He was the director of engineering at WSU's NW Public Radio and Television.

She was the director of Christian Education and administrative assistant at Community Congregational United Church of Christ.

She was also a piano teacher.

Both are now retired, and they have traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada and internationally.

They also enjoy playing musical instruments together.

They have two children, Brent Peters and Wendy (Rich) Cawley, both of Portland, and two grandchildren.
