Colfax, Asotin eye U of I Kibbie Dome

With smoke covering the area and driving football teams into gyms to practice, Asotin and Colfax began looking for an alternative mode to get in Friday’s league game which had been set for Friday night on the Asotin field.

Colfax athletic director Nathan Holbrook reported late Tuesday the two teams were close to booking a game Thursday night in the UI’s Kibbie Dome at Moscow. Game time would be at 5:30 p.m.

The game site hadn’t been booked as of press time Wednesday morning.

Colfax Coach Mike Morgan, noting not many options were on the smokey horizon as of Tuesday night, said a Thursday game date would be acceptable. Most teams have wrapped up their heavy practices each week by Wednesday, so a game one day earlier would not make that much difference, he added.

Holbrook Tuesday pointed out football games are difficult to make up. With 10 teams, the NE season schedules do not have any non-league games.
