Ryley Griffiths and Kylie Kackman, now juniors at Colfax High School, placed third in a national FCCLA convention event in Nashville July 1-7.
They qualified for the national finals with a top two finish in the state session last March.
They were among 47 teams which competed in the food innovations contest at the national session.
They made a presentation on a nutritional bar they had created.
Altaira Bogle, CHS food and consumer science teacher, said they did a 10 minute presentation on the nutrition bar which included a comparison with a present bar on the market and a marketing and advertising plan.
The third-place finish included a $20,000 scholarship to Sullivan University in Kentucky in the event they elect to study there.
Only two other teams from Washington finished that high in the national events at Nashville.
Griffiths and Kackman were among 10 CHS students who attended the national convention.
