With space in the bleachers due to Palouse Days activities getting underway on Main Street Sept. 15, the fans on hand for Garfield/Palouse vs. Lakeside saw dominance.
The Vikings (2-0) had the game in hand early, with senior quarterback Evan Weagraff scoring three of six touchdowns before halftime, leaving the game with five carries for 143 yards.
Gar/Pal led 44-6 at the half. Final score was 50-12
Senior running back Daniel Orfe scored the other three touchdowns in the Vikings’ first two quarters. He finished with three carries for 140 yards.
Gar/Pal coach Will Woltering put in backup quarterback Austin Jones in the third quarter. The freshman ran the ball six times for 52 yards and one touchdown.
Garfield/Palouse will now travel to Craigmont, Idaho, Friday for another non-league matchup, this time with Lewis County. They open Southeast 1B league play Oct. 13 at home vs. St. John/Endicott/ LaCrosse.
