Colfax hosts Liberty after 3 league sweeps

Colfax volleyball squad will host a tough Liberty team today after running three sweep wins in the early run of the NE league race. The Bulldogs rolled to Ritzville Tuesday and defeated the Broncos 25-16 25-13 and 25-16 to remain undefeated in the NE league campaign.

The win came after Colfax swept Reardan on the home court Saturday and swept the Asotin Panthers on the the road last Thursday.

Game scores at home against Reardan Saturday were 25-11 25-7 and 25 10

Colfax booked a strong net game against the Broncos with Carmen Gfeller hitting 11 kills and Piper Cai hitting 8 kills.

Coach Sue Doering said the Bulldogs booked a strong serving game on the home court against the Indians. Kylie Kackman hit 13 straight in the last game with five aces to run all the way to match score.

Gretta Geier had hit seven straight serves in the first game, and Kackman hit five straight. Geier finished with a 16-17 serving night with six aces, and Kackman finished 24-24 with five aces.

Thursday at Asotin, the Bulldogs swept the Panthers 25-16 25-16 and 25-13 with Gfeller hitting 17 kills. Geier also was on the mark for serves with a 17-20 night and five aces, and Kackman hit 18-20 with seven aces at Asotin.

Liberty comes to town today after taking out Tekoa/Rosalia 25-23 25-19 25-19 with Maisie Burnham hitting eight kills.

Ellise Wilkins had seven kills for the Timberwolves, and Kylee Jenneskins had 14 assists in the league match.

After hosting Liberty tonight, the Bulldogs will roll north Friday to Spokane for another two-day run in the Sheridan Classic. They will start against West Valley in pool play at Ferris at 7:30 Friday. Saturday they will play East Ridge at 9 a.m. and Jackson at noon.

The classic will break out for the finals with pool winners at Ferris, number twos at Shadle, number threes at Rogers and fours at Lewis & Clark,
