Colfax high school threat hearing set today, Oct. 5

Next court appearance for a 14-year-old Colfax boy who was charged with harassment with a threat to kill was set for today, Oct. 5. Bail for pre-trial release was set at $50,000.

The boy was arrested by Colfax police after they received reports from other students at the school that he had allegedly posted a threat to “shoot up the school” on a Snapchat posting.

In the event the boy posts bond, he will be under a court order to not go within 100 feet of Colfax High School, to not be in possession of firearms and to not conduct threatening behavior.

Juveniles kept in custody for pending cases in Whitman County are housed at the Martin Hall detention center at Medical Lake.

As a safety precaution, Colfax police removed firearms from the boy’s residence after they arrested him.
