Palouse considers RV park rate boost

The City of Palouse is considering an increase to the nightly rate at the RV park for the 2018 fee schedule to go into its yearly budget. The current rate of $25 would go to $30, which could add an estimated $5,000 revenue to the town.

The RV park opened in 2009 across from Hayton Greene Park, on the site of a former Wallace Grain and Pea grain elevator.

Since then, the city has spent money to plant trees and add wi-fi. For next year, the city council has authorized 10 picnic tables to be added at a cost of $6,500.

The R.V. park has drawn consistent bookings, now with increased weekday visitors.

“It's doing phenomenally this year,” said Palouse Mayor Michael Echanove.

The increase has yet to be decided.

The mayor said he prefers leaving the fee at $25.

“Why mess with it? Sometimes it's fun to go through life and find little things that don't cost much.”
