A male pedestrian who was fatally injured in an accident late Sunday night and died Monday in Spokane was named Tuesday after an extended attempt to learn his identity.
The accident victim did not have identification on him when he was hit by a pickup truck.
A report from the district Washington State Patrol office identified the victim as Donavon D. Harring, 42, Everett. He was identified after an abandoned Nissan sedan was found on Walter Siding Road about three miles from the accident scene.
Harring was struck by a pickup truck on Highway 27 four miles north of Garfield late Sunday. He sustained serious injuries in the accident and was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center by Life Flight helicopter.
A Colfax ambulance crew also responded to the scene.
According to the Washington State Patrol accident report, Harring was walking southbound in the southbound lane of the highway and was hit by a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck being driven by Steven R. Church, 53, Mill City, Ore. The pickup truck was also southbound on Highway 27 and was towing a two-axle trailer.
Church was not injured in the accident which was logged at 10:54 p..m. Sunday.
Harring in early WSP reports was listed as an unidentified male. He was reported to be wearing shorts and tank top at the time of the accident.
Palouse Police Chief Jerry Neumann previously said they had checked the local area and determine no local residents of the Garfield and Palouse area had been reported missing.
The pickup and the trailer were driven from the accident scene.
