Thursday, Oct. 12
Colfax – 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. – The Palouse and WWI (ACT 2 Class) – Discover how the Palouse geared up to fight the War to End All Wars and was forever changed. The class runs Oct. 12 – Nov. 9 and cost is $35. Call 509-279-6030 to register.
St. John – 3:30 to 5 p.m. – Tinker Tech Time – Students K-5 are invited for STEM activities at the St. John School. Kids will use Snap Circuits, LEGO Mindstorms, Ozobots and Magnetix. Single $10 fee per student; return forms to Mrs. Maloney.
Colfax – 7 p.m. – Inland Northwest Agriculture Forum – Explore the evolution and future of farm equipment, crop production, grain storage and more. “Grain Elevators of Whitman County” by Dennis Witmer will be on display and sale.
St. John – Teen Blackout Poetry Contest – Middle and high school students, come create a poem of your own by taking already written pages and simply redacting text with a sharpie. Kits are available Oct. 6 – 13; submit to the library by Oct. 16.
Friday, Oct. 13
Colfax, Palouse and Rosalia – Play and Learn – Playgroup offers FUN and socialization for both parents and kids. Join us.
Colfax – 6 to 7:30 p.m. – All County Teen Trivia – Teens are invited to this fun, after hours trivia night at The Center. Bring your team of six or join one and enjoy pizza while testing your random knowledge in categories from books to the bizarre.
Oakesdale – 6 p.m. – Superstition Night – Learn about superstitions of different cultures. Crafts and snacks provided.
Rosalia – 6 to 8 p.m. – Teen Superstition Party – Students in grades 6-12 are welcome to spend Friday the 13th playing games, enjoying snacks and creating an art project so you can take your luck with you.
Saturday, Oct. 14
Rosalia – 1 p.m. – Railroad History Program and Walk – Explore the route of the historic Milwaukee Road railroad across Whitman County in a historic, photographic presentation. Join the walking tour of Rosalia railroad bridges at 2:15 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 16
LaCrosse and St. John - Free Medicare Help - Join SHIBA volunteers, Joyce and Daniel Leonard, for free and impartial information tailored to meet your needs. Drop in at the St. John Library between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. or LaCrosse between 2 and 5 p.m.
Colfax – 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. – Caregivers Support Group – Melissa Johnson from Rural Resources is facilitating a free caregiver support group that offers information, support and a listening ear to all caregivers every first and third Monday.
Rosalia – 3:30 p.m. – Teen Advisory Council – Join our council and help determine new and exciting library teen events.
Colfax – 4 p.m. – WCL Board Meeting – Meetings are always open and community members are encouraged to attend.
Albion – 7 p.m. – Book Club – Join us for a discussion of Karen Abbot's novel, "Liar, Temptress, Soldier, Spy."

Wednesday, Oct. 18

Endicott and Malden – Snap Circuits – This STEM program will guide students age 10 and older through designing displays with Snap Circuits and explain the science behind it. Please call 657-3429 to register or visit us online. Younger students may attend with an adult or teen accompanying them. The Endicott program begins at 1 p.m. and Malden at 3:30 p.m.
Colfax – 6 to 7:30 p.m. – Intro to Ukulele: Plus – Beginners and ukulele players are welcome to learn with Scott Hallett...and GREAT NEWS. Uke is one of the easiest instruments to learn. The class runs Oct. 11 through Nov. 1 and the cost is $17.
Tekoa – 6 to 7:30 p.m. – Attentive Parenting Workshop – Books, materials and childcare are free. Call 284-3121 for details.
