Colton quarterback Parker Druffel sidesteps for more yards in a 72-28 win at St. John. The Wildcats play Friday at home in a re-match of their 60-58 state quarterfinal loss to Sunnyside Christian.
Friday night in Colton a big game will descend.
The last time the teams saw each other, it ended on cold turf in November at Grandview in the 2016 state 1B quarterfinals, two points separating them after 16 touchdowns scored, 60-58. Sunnyside Christian won.
Colton (5-1) and the Knights (6-0) meet again Friday in a Southeast 1B league game. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
The game comes after the Wildcats beat St. John/Endicott/LaCrosse last week 72-28 at St. John.
Parker Druffel started it with a 93-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage.
Druffel had 10 carries on the night for 255 yards and four touchdowns. He threw 16-for-20 for 226 yards and three touchdowns.
Key Colton receivers included Luke Vining, with seven catches for 82 yards, and Matt Wolf had three for 110. On defense, linebacker Reece Chadwick returned two interceptions for touchdowns.
