Nicholas, Merritt lead NE XC race

Asotin runners led the pack Tuesday in an NE race at Asotin with 19 team point totals in the boys race and in the girls race. Asotin sophomore Mason Nicholas and TR junior Gavin Merritt finished within two seconds in the 5000-meter boys race with Nicholas clocking 17:093.46 and Merritt 17:05.2. They finished 10 seconds ahead of the pack.

Tekoa/Rosalia placed second with 45 team points, and Garfield placed third with 72.

Maia Dykstra of Asotin posted strong win for Asotin in the girls side with 20:02.17. Anais Mills of Garfield/Palouse led county runners with a third-place finish at 22:01.35, and Tayma Vanek of Colfax placed fifth a 23:08.68.

Other finishers for the TR boys were Issac Leighton, eighth at 18:32.8; Jaedyn Norwood, ninth at 18:33.7; Zane Neill, 20th at 20:44.59, and Dawson Strobel, 24th at 21:22.11.

Finishers for the third-place Vikings were Dawson Dugger, 18th at 20:15; Logan Diets, 21st at 20:51; Ethan Cook, 25th at 21:31; Eddie O’;Neal, 33rd at 22:56; Daniel Kramer, 35th at 24:07; Danny Laughary, 37th at 24:19; Christian Burt, 40th at 28:38, and Curtis Nordstrom, 41st at 29:55.

The first three Colfax runners finished in a pack for 11th through 13th with Ryley Griffiths at 18:59. Carson Cloaninger at 19:03, and Chase Baerlocher at 19:05. Josh Huber finished 23rd at 21:17.

St. John/Endicott finishers were Trae Anderson, 14th at 19:20, and Dominic Treis, 22nd at 21:02,

Vanek led a 40-point Colfax team score for a second-place team finish behind Asotin’s 19-point team win on the girls’ side. Other finishers for Colfax were Rebekah Huber, 10th at 24:21; Alicia Knee, 11th at 24:38; Isabelle Erickson, 16th at 26:35; Kiah Miller, 17th at 27:17; Riley Martin, 18th at 27:23; Emma Miller, 20th at 27:43, and Chelsea Becker, 24th at 28:43.

Finishers for SJE were Catherine Treis, ninth at 24:04; Ellie Tollett, 14th at 25:15, and Guinevere Richmond, 21st at 27:53.

Finishers for the Timberwolves were Amy Bennett, 8th at 23:22, and Sarina Hill, 22nd at 28:20.

McHargue, Cocking top 2,000 meter race

Anna Cocking of Colfax won the 2000-meter girls junior high race Tuesday at Asotin with a 10:44. 24, fastest time overall for junior high runners.

Alex McHargue of Tekoa/Rosalia won the 2000-meter boys race with a 10:56.27 clocking

Marianne Treis of ESJ placed second in the girls race at 11:56, and Kaelyn Olson of TR place third at 12:07 followed by three Colfax runners, Olivia Kellogg, 14:09; Kylee Bracken, 15:04, and Madeline Tate, 15:16.

Three ESJ runners finishing behind McHargue the boys race were Pedro Molina Contraras, 11:47; William Tollett, 12:22, and Christopher Treis, 12:36.
