Bahá’ís will mark
200th anniversary
Bahá’ís of the Palouse will commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Bahá’u’lláh, founder of the Bahá’í Faith, with a Light of Unity Festival, featuring a series of events on Oct. 20-24.
Isaac Cook of Colfax will give a talk at 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 20, at the Whitman County Library in Colfax. It will be preceded by a violin performance by Katie and Darcy Malberg, graduates of WSU.
Annie Reneau of Pullman will speak on, “The Life of Bahá’u’lláh: A Mission of Peace,” at 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Gladish Community Center in Pullman. The event will begin with a potluck dinner at 5:30 p.m. Guitarist and singers Toney Driver and Julia Ames of Moscow. will perform.
The Bahá’ís of the Palouse will host a “Family Unity Day,” featuring stories, songs, crafts and more for children, youth and parents, 3-4:30 p.m. in the Great Room at the 1912 Center in Moscow.
“Light To The World.” a film about how the teachings of Bahá’u’lláh have impacted and transformed individual lives and communities across the world, will be screened at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the Borah Theater in the Bruce Pitman Center at the University of Idaho.
Colfax Cup O’ Joe
Adam Jones, founder of Pullman Marketing, will give a presentation on “Fixing Your Broken Local Search on Google Maps,” at Colfax Cup O’ Joe. Wednesday, Oct. 25, 10-11 a.m. at Events on Main 203 N. Main St. in Colfax. Jones will also give tips on ways to fix how a business shows up on Google when others are searching for it, or related words which will drive people to a business.
Jones offers digital marketing services, local advertisement, marketing, one-on-one assistance and more.

Pittmann at FFA Nationals
Rosalia senior Collin Pittmann departed early this week to compete in public speaking at the national FFA convention in Indianapolis, Ind. Pittmann qualified for the nationals after winning the prepared public speaking competition last May in the state FFA convention in Pullman. His topic was the falling numbers test for grain quality.
The son of Jeff and Tara Pittmann of Rosalia, Pittmann again is part of the cast for the Colfax fall musical. He plays the role of Daddy Warbucks in this year's production of Annie.
CLUBS & YOUTH GROUPS
Athenaeum
Athenaeum club's fall homecoming event to begin the year's activities was at the Perkins House Oct. 9 and hosted by the yearbook committee. A table was set for refreshments by the committee and featured foods specific to certain regions of the country. There were about 25 in attendance.
Theresa Dale, Perkins House Coordinator, presented a program about the Perkins House's early history taken from writings of Mrs. (Jenny) Perkins.
The next meeting will be Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. at the Methodist Church. This is the fall business meeting. The hostess will be Lois Scholz and the program will be presented by Sharon Baum.
WSU Retirees
The importance of sleep will be discussed by Dr. Devon Grant at the WSU Retirees Association’s meeting Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 1:30 p.m. at Pullman Senior Center. Dr. Grant is a post-doctoral researcher associated with the Sleep and Performance Research Center at WSU Spokane.
Dr. Grant’s research interests focus on sleep and sleep disorders. She entered the experimental psychology program at WSU in 2011 and completed her doctorate degree in 2016. Dr. Grant also has a master’s degree in clinical psychology and is a licensed mental health counselor.
Monthly meetings sponsored by the WSU Retirees are open to the public. Refreshments are served at each meeting.
Pullman LWV
The Pullman League of Women Voters will host Whitman County Commissioners Dean Kinzer and Michael Largent Thursday, Oct. 26, at noon at the Congregational United Church of Christ. All are encouraged to attend to hear an update about issues in our county and also to ask the commissioners questions.
