Colfax bags Doering's 900 on wins at Liberty, Reardan

Colfax volleyball players stayed right on track with three-game match wins on the road at Liberty and Reardan last week to nail career win number 900 for Coach Sue Doering. The team and followers celebrated after the sweep at Reardan Saturday and signed a ball for the coach.

Coach Doering now has a career record of 900-234 and will go for 901 tonight when the LRS Broncos come to town for an NE league match.

The match with the Broncos will be the first of a three-match home stand with Pomeroy, the 1B league leaders, visiting Saturday for a non-leaguer at Tekoa/Rosalia here to finish the league run Tuesday.

Thursday at Liberty, Colfax swept the Lancers 25-15 25-18 and 25-11. Doering noted Colfax booked a lot of errors in the second game and at one point it looked like Liberty might break the long run of sweeps posted by Colfax in the NE race.

Colfax shook off the mistakes to take the second game, and Greta Geier came up with strong serving run to set the pace for the big margin in the third set.

Saturday at Readan Colfax downed the Indians 25-10 25-14 and 25-20. Geier finished with a 19 for 20 serving and hit eight aces in the match. She started Colfax with a 7-0 lead in the first game, and she and Madi Cox each hit six straight in the second game

“We were just serving up chunks of points,” Coach Doering reported.
