Pomeroy wraps SE volleyball title

Pomeroy cleared the last hurdle for an SE league sweep Thursday with a three-game win at Colton. The win left the Pirates on top of the league at 8-0.

Colton dropped to third in the league standings at 6-2.

Oakesdale, which posted a sweep Thursday over LWK, landed in second place at 7-1 with a three games win over Garfield/Palouse.

Pomeroy Thursday downed the Wildcats 25-15 25-20 and 15-14.

Maddie Dixson and Deanna Caruso each hit 10 kills for the Pirates and Sydney Smith put up 21 assists and had nine digs.

Emily Schultheis had seven kills, two aces and five blocks for the Wildcats. Abby Kelly had seven assists and two aces, and Jordyn Moehrle had 14 digs.

The loss left Colton at 12-2 overall.

Oakesdale, which also lost a showdown battle with the Pirates when they collided the previous week, downed LaCrosse/ Washtucna/Kahlotus 25-10 25-12 and 25-7 on the Nighthawks court in the Thursday round to remain in second place in the league standings. Brooklyn Haley had 17 kills for the Nighthawks in the win.

St. John/Endicott swept Garfield/Palouse 25-16 29-27 and 25-6 in the Thursday round with Jayden Corder hitting seven aces and Glory Dickerson putting up 17 assists. Drew Curtins-Brewer hit six aces and had five blocks for the Eagles.

St. John stopped LWK Tuesday in the last league clash 25-16 25-16 and 25-20. Corder has 15 kills with four aces, and Dickerson has 26 assists.

Jazzmyn Gordon hit 11 kills with two aces for he Tigercats, and Alynn Harder had seven assists.

In the other league round Tuesday, Touchet topped Prescott in four games 12-25 25-13 25-9 25-11 in a battle between the two clubs in the bottom of the league.
