Missoula Theatre

returns to Tekoa

Tekoa Empire Theatre hosts the Missoula Children’s Theatre for the week of Nov. 6 through 11 with "Peter and Wendy" as this year's production. The theatre program will be hosted by a cooperative agreement between the local theatre, Tekoa School officials and the Missoula Children’s Theatre staff. The free drama and theatre training will be at Tekoa Empire Theatre, 126 S. Crosby, next to E-clairs in downtown Tekoa.

Children are invited for tryouts beginning at 3 p.m. Nov. 6. The flexibility of the production allows most children to be in assigned parts, regardless their ability to act or perform. Rehearsals will be each night, Tuesday through Friday, with the performance Saturday. Performance times will be announced later.

Dahmen shows

Bode paintings

An opening reception for the November exhibit at Dahmen Barn in Uniontown, the Palouse Watercolor Socius and Nick Bode memorial exhibit, will be Sunday, Nov. 5, from 1 to 3 p.m. The exhibit will continue through Nov. 26.

This year’s Palouse Watercolor Socius’ show is dedicated to the memory of Nick Bode, who died June 6, 2017. All paintings exhibited in this show are available for purchase. Included are some of Nick’s early works not previously shown, studio paintings and works en plein air.

Bode was instrumental to the promotion and success of the Palouse Watercolor Socius by encouraging local businesses to display artists’ work. He was a watercolor purist, painting the local landscapes of the Palouse en plein air and in his studio from photos.

Bode, who in 1960 moved with his family to Moscow when he was 10, began painting watercolor in high school and studied art at the University of Idaho.

This watercolor can be viewed at the Nick Bode memorial exhibit, continuing through Nov. 26 at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown.

Free lecture set

on stone tools

A free lecture, “Flaked Stone Tool Production in Ice Age America” will be presented Nov. 8 at 7 p.m., at the Colfax Library. He obtained training in anthropology and interdisciplinary studies at the universities of Toledo, Maine and Michigan. He conducted archaeological research throughout North America and taught at Saginaw Valley State University and the University of Michigan.
