Veterans service, luncheon slated at Rosalia on Nov. 11

Rosalia will conduct a Veterans Day Ceremony Saturday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, which is located behind the Texaco Visitors Center/service station in Rosalia.

Patricia Voge will be mistress of ceremony. Father Mike Savelesky will give the invocation, and Karl Dieseldorff will sing the national anthem. Mayor Nan Konishi will give the welcome.

Rosalia Boy Scouts will perform the flag ceremony and lead the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance and retirement of old flags.

Guest speaker Sr. Master Sargent Bruce Pritchard is a 22-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the Air Force Reserve who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is currently a project manager for D&S Electrical Contractors.

Dieseldorff will also sing "America the Beautiful" and play and sing the songs of the different military branches.

The VFW Rifle Team will fire three volleys each in tribute to two members who died during the past year. Larry Zehm served in the U.S. Navy and in the reserves with duty in California, Whidbey Island and Italy. Gene Henning served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a machine gunner on the front line and he served during the cold winter of 1952. Taps will be played.

Rosalia Chamber of Commerce will host a community luncheon at the Rose Garage after the program. A donation in any amount will be appreciated.

Residents can leave non-flyable flags in the red drop box at the Rosalia Library porch. The drop box was built by Eagle Scout Kade Holling.
