Dusty B.B. Club met last Wednesday at the Catholic Church annex in LaCrosse and completed 14 receiving blankets for the free maternity clinic at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane. Several baby quilts were made and donated by Janell Guske.
Attending were Helen Appel, Dianne Appel, Diane Monson, Janell Guske, Fran Jones and Sandy Passmore. Lunch was enjoyed at the LaCrosse Café. Changes have been made to the December program. The December meeting will be on Thursday, Dec. 14, at the Catholic Church annex in Colfax to decorate for the Christmas party. Hostesses will be Diane Monson and Liz Appel. The program is to bring one dozen cookies to exchange along with copies of the recipe.
The Christmas party will be Friday, Dec. 15, at 6 p.m. for a potluck dinner. Families who would like to participate in the program during the party should call Liz Appel who is the coordinator. Members are asked to bring a hot dish and a salad or dessert. Guests are always welcome.
Linda Hennigar recently spent a weekend in Kennewick with her daughter’s family, Tami, Jay and Wesley Banks. Tami and Linda attended the Custer Craft Show at The Trac Friday and Sunday. Sunday evening, they were all dinner guests at the home of Andre and Rosabelle Chavez in Finley along with other family and friends.
A bridal shower for Kim Ware, bride-elect of Graham BeDell, was given at the home of Doreen Riedner Sunday. Special guests included the bride’s mother, Jill Ware of Kuna, Idaho, and the groom’s mother, Angela Broeckel of Dusty. Hostesses were Terri Koller, Pomeroy; Lois Startin and Debbie Casey, LaCrosse and Doreen Riedner, Dusty. The guests included Cindy Pitts, Carmen Heaton, Jeanette Nolan, Pam Beasley, Patty Wieber, Jamie Halbig, Vicki Broeckel, Judy Birch, Georgeann Birch, Peggy Bryan, Jeannie Larkin, Gabi Baker and bridesmaids Sicily Erb, Allie Pastras and Michelle Reynolds.
Recently, Fred Appel, Tennessee, was in the Dusty area to visit his brothers Dick, Dave and Steve. Neil and Liz Appel, his renter, held a family dinner in his honor. Those attending were Dick and Helen Appel, Dave and Alice Appel, Charlie Appel, Steve and Dianne Appel and Neil and Liz Appel and John Paul, Grace and Michael.
The Appel family gathered last week to butcher turkeys. Dick and Helen Appel raised the turkeys, but those wanting a turkey either needed to take it home or help butcher it. The families helping were the Rob Kunkel family, Pullman; the Travis Frei family, Palouse; the Neil Appel family and Dick and Helen Appel, all of Dusty.
