Be a part of the Thanksgiving Day tradition in Palouse by entering in the 13th annual turkey leg fun run on Thursday, Nov. 23, at 7:45 a.m. All proceeds will be used to fund new children’s books and activities for the Palouse Library.

The race will begin at the Green Frog Café at 7:45 a.m. with donuts and hot drinks provided by McLeod's Palouse Market. The event is sponsored and made possible by the Green Frog Café, McLeod’s Palouse Market and the Palouse Library.

Donations are collected the morning of the race or they can be made at the Green Frog Café and the Palouse Library. Over the past 13 years, the Turkey Leg Fun Run has raised more than $13,000 to purchase hundreds of children’s books, fund Summer Reading and other activities.

Dahmen Barn 12th Holiday Gift Gala

The 12th annual Holiday Gift Gala at Dahmen Barn will be Saturday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Visiting artists and craftspeople from throughout the region join the 22 resident artists selling their one-of-a-kind products. The gift shop will be expanded with holiday specialty foods.

New this year is a make-and-take ornament table. Kids or adults may make a clay ornament under the instruction of Rosalie Wold, the new children’s ceramic instructor. There is no cost for the first ornament under stipulation that participants pay it forward by giving the ornament to a friend at school, elderly neighbor or someone that needs cheering up. A second ornament can be made for a donation to the children’s clay program.

The event is free to the public.

For sale will be soups, breads and sweets from recipes in the "Artisans' Cookbook - a pallet of favorite recipes" and new cookbook "Tea at the Barn" recipes for delectable delights served at the fundraising teas for Artisans at the Dahmen Barn. Copies of the cookbooks may be purchased in the gift shop.
