Winterfest sign-ups for parade, trees open

Colfax Winterfest is set for Dec. 7, complete with parade and Festival of Trees. Sign-ups are now open for parade entries. To get a place in the parade line-up, go to explorecolfax.com and click on the “My Events” tab. Then scroll to the Winterfest section and select the “Parade Sign up” button. That directs a person to the entry form which asks for name, type of entry, person to contact and email address to correspond with. Those interested can also call Valorie Gregory, Colfax unified director.

Those interested in submitting an entry into the Festival of Trees should contact Kristie Kirkpatrick, director of the Whitman County Library, by Nov. 27. The trees will be on display and judged at The Center. Tree set-up will be Nov. 27 and 28 and trees will remain on display through December with winners of the judging announced Dec. 20.

Trees will compete for people’s choice, most creative, judges choice and kids’ choice.

Last year’s winners were Blooming Fields for people’s choice, Jennings Elementary staff for judge’s choice and Route 26 Vintage Market for most creative and kids’ choice.

“They’re all back to defend their titles,” Kirkpatrick said. So far there are about 18 trees lined up with space for more.

Take down for the displayed trees will be Jan. 2 and 3.

There will also be a raffle tree decorated in a movie theme sponsored by Pioneer Title Company. Tickets will be $1 with all benefits going toward a new roof for The Center.
