Library Friends win state award

Friends of Whitman County Library received special recognition during the Washington Library Association Conference two weeks ago in Tacoma. Friends president Sue Hallett, center, accepted the award of merit along with library director Kristie Kirkpatrick, left, and youth services manager Sheri Miller. Friends of WCL are 600 members strong and volunteered more than 2,500 hours last year. They help fund library services, programs and facility renovations countywide.
