Bulldog boys edge Lancers

Colfax boys scrambled Tuesday at Liberty for a 55-51 edge over the Lancers to remained undefeated in the new league race. Colfax staked a 10-point lead at the half and then held on while the Lancers charged in their home court. Carson Cloaninger again led Colfax by hitingt 23 at Spangle and Jason Soncarty hit 18.

Over the weekend, the Bulldogs posted a win over Reardan in the first league round Friday after fighting off the Indians in the final minutes. Final score as 48-43.

Reardan had trouble getting their shots to drop in the first half, and trailed the Bulldogs by 10, 12-22 at the break.

Reardan sliced seven points off the Colfax lead in the third quarter and closed up the gap in the final minutes, but Colfax held on.

Cloaninger hit 18 points for the Bulldogs with half of his points coming from 3-pointers.

Coach Reece Jenkin said the Reardan win marked a solid night on defense for Bulldogs.

Reardan senior Cade Francis scored a game high 20 points. Sophomore Tyler Sprecher, who had 10 attempts at the toss line, finished with 14.

Saturday at Rosalia Colfax used a full-court press to set the tone on defense and pegged 78-35 win over the NE league neighbors. The two teams locked up at 13-13 in the first quarter.

Colfax laced seven 3-pointers against TR.

Craig Mueller, 6'-4” junior, hit 10 to lead scoring for the hosts.

ROAD SAGA AHEAD

Colfax basketball teams traveled to Spangle Tuesday to play Liberty in the first of six NE league games on the road.

In fact, Friday's home game here against Reardan was the last home show for the Bulldogs until Jan. 6 when they will host Kettle Falls.

Other road stops will be at Asotin Friday, Lind/Ritzville/Sprague Saturday and Davenport Dec. 19. They will play in the West Valley Holiday Tournament Dec. 28-29, and make one more league stop, at St George's, Jan. 5, before returning to the home boards Jan. 6.

The road saga actually includes seven straight games because the Bulldogs traveled to Rosalia last Saturday night to play the Timberwolves.
