Unbeaten Colton, Gar/Pal girls meet Friday

Colton’s Emily Schultheis works underneath in a home win over Touchet Dec. 9. The Wildcats are now 5-0.

The Colton and Garfield/Palouse girls remain undefeated after an early round of league games last weekend. Gar/Pal, led by its two seniors and longtime starters, Payson Griner and Katie Arrasmith, beat Oakesdale and blew out Waitsburg. Colton handled Touchet and Pomeroy.

Garfield/Palouse will play at Colton Friday. Game time is 6 p.m.

Colton 64, Grangeville 37

The Colton bus went to Grangeville Tuesday night and built its record to 5-0 in a non-league win over the Bulldogs. Each of 10 Colton players who appeared in the game scored, including Dakota Patchen with 16 points, Emily Schultheis with 13 and Abby Kelly (12).

Molly DeFord led Grangeville with 8 points.

Garfield/Palouse 62, Waitsburg 17

Payson Griner scored 24 points and eight rebounds to lead the unbeaten Vikings to 4-0 while Katie Arrasmith added 19 points and 10 rebounds at Waitsburg Dec. 9. Kenzi Pedersen scored 12 points.

Pomeroy 66, St. John/Endicott/LaCrosse 24

Maddy Dixon led the Pirates at St. John with 20 points while Sydney Smith had 11 and Emma Severs scored nine to put their record at 3-1 overall, 1-1 in league. Drew Curtis-Brewer led the Eagles with 13 points.

Colton 44, Touchet 25

Colton delivered Touchet (3-1, 1-1) its first loss of the season, holding them to single-digit scoring in all four quarters of the league game at Colton. The Wildcats led at halftime 29-9. In the end, Dakota Patchen had 18 points and six steals while Emily Schultheis scored nine points and Georgia Meyer got nine rebounds.

Colton 41, Pomeroy 33

Playing at Pomeroy, Colton built a lead in the second quarter that provided a cushion for later.

The 13-0 stretch put the Wildcats up 24-6 in an early-season Southeast 1B league game.

Schultheis led Colton with 15 points while Jordyn Moehrle had 13, Patchen 12 and Meyer pulled in 10 rebounds. Maddy Dixon led Pomeroy with 20 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks.

Garfield/Palouse 46, Oakesdale 35

Katie Arrasmith scored 18 points to lead the Vikings in a big win at home Dec. 8. Oakesdale (3-1, 0-1) took an 11-point lead in the first half before Gar/Pal came back to lead by six at halftime.

Payson Griner added eight points for Gar/Pal while Emmy Gregg scored six.

Logan Reed was the high-scorer for Oakesdale with 20 points.
