The dominant Pomeroy boys again hold first place this week in Southeast 1B league standings, their record at 7-0, 4-0, followed by Garfield/ Palouse at 5-1, 4-0. Pomeroy and Gar/Pal are the only two teams without a league loss.
Heading into Christmas break – a mix of days off, tournament games and non-league – the two teams will meet Jan. 5 at Palouse.
The Gar/Pal boys opened the Colton tournament Wednesday against Entiat. Colton played Wahkiakum. Losers’ and winners’ bracket games will be played Thursday at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Rounding out league standings this week are Oakesdale (6-2, 3-1) and Prescott (4-3, 3-1).
Oakesdale plays Dayton at home Dec. 29. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Garfield/Palouse 58, Colton 45
Daniel Orfe scored 19 points to take Gar/Pal to victory at Colton Dec. 15, a night which the Wildcats mounted a series of comeback attempts. Ely Hawkins scored 15 points for Gar/Pal to help hold off Colton, who were led by Reece Chadwick’s 15 points and Matt Wolf’s 11.
Tanner Anderson brought down 12 rebounds for Gar/Pal.
Garfield/Palouse 59, St. John/ Endicott/
LaCrosse 38
Blake Jones led Gar/Pal with 20 points at Palouse Dec. 16 in a Southeast 1B league win over the Eagles. Daniel Orfe had 11 points for Gar/Pal while Austin Jones scored 10. Tanner Anderson got seven rebounds.
For St. John/Endicott/LaCrosse, Ty Harder led his team with 16 points and Dustin Fox scored 12.
