Idaho man dies at Wilma

An accident at the Guy Bennett Lumber Co. at the Port of Wilma took the life of an Idaho man the morning of Dec. 20. The victim was identified as Jeff Midstokke, 55, Peck, Idaho.

Emergency crews responded to a report of the accident at approximately 11 a.m. Dec. 20. According to the sheriff's office, Midstokke was working on a log debarker machine at the mill when he fell and sustained a head injury.

Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene which is in the southeast corner of Whitman County. The county coroner’s office and state Department of Labor and Industries also investigated the accident. Whitman County Coroner Peter Martin Monday reported Midstokke died of massive head and neck injuries.
