Icy highways take toll

Washington State Patrol troopers Dec. 20 morning investigated two accidents which were caused by icy conditions on highways.

--Ramon Palacios-Romero, Kennewick, was unhurt when he lost control of a 2007 Pontiac G6 on Highway 26 29.7 miles east of Colfax. According to the report by Trooper Rob Aucutt, Palacios-Romero was driving eastbound on 26 and lost control of the car on the ice-covered highway. The Pontiac rolled onto its top in the ditch on the east side of the highway. The accident site was near the Scott Road intersection to LaCrosse.

--Nolan V. Dillard, Lewiston, was unhurt when he lost control of a Kia Soul on Highway 195 2.9 miles south of Pullman. He was driving north at 4:05 a.m. when the Kia went out of control on the ice-covered highway and went into the ditch on the east side of the highway.
