Palouse Lions Club will give a $1,500 scholarship for one boy and one girl from Garfield/Palouse High School for the class of 2018. The money was raised from the annual Community Christmas board sign at the entrance to town on Highway 27. It displays names for a $10 minimum donation.
The two $1,500 scholarships mark the second year of a high total for the Christmas board.
The money raised this year exceeded $3,000, allowing the Lions to cover expenses of the project, which Treasurer Loren Estes estimated at $250 in paint and sending out flyers.
