Serving Whitman County since 1877
Rice’s mixed media art show begins Jan. 20, then continues through March 31 during regular library hours at The Center, adjacent to the Colfax library.
A grand opening reception for Colfax artist Molly Rice and her multi-media art and photography show at The Center next to Colfax library will be Saturday, Jan. 20, from 5-7 p.m. The reception will feature light refreshments, an exhibit filling two rooms of The Center and a visit with Rice herself.
Heavily influenced by nature, dreams, spirit and myth, Rice’s exhibit features a wide variety of media from paintings, pen and ink works and photographs to handcrafted papers made from a variety of plant materials.
Rice describes herself as an artist, photographer, storyteller, creator, naturalist, earth-steward, rebel and elder. Her work is abstract and filled with imaginary and symbolic ideas.
“I often hear 'I don’t get it' when it comes to my art. That’s ok, because I just paint what I am inspired to paint. Often it is the illusion of more than anything else,” Rice said.
Rice’s mixed media art show begins Jan. 20 and continues through March 31 during regular library hours. The Center is located adjacent to the Colfax branch of Whitman County Library, 102 S. Main Street, Colfax.
Molly Rice performs arborist work for the City of Colfax.
