Crusaders will test Colfax in next NE north/south match

Northwest Christian Crusaders will be at Colfax Friday night for the next round of NE action which will match teams from the north and south sides of the league. The Crusaders will make the Colfax stop after edging Asotin 82-78 Friday in an offensive explosion which went into overtime

Colfax, now 7-1 in league play, will host the Crusaders after booking a split on the weekend. The boys sustained a 54-35 loss to the Dragons at St. George’s Friday night in a game which matched the league leaders from north and south,

Colfax returned home Saturday after four weeks on the road and out-paced Kettle Falls 63-42.

At St. George’s the Dragons’ defense put the clamps on the Colfax offense.

Colfax kept pace at 12-11 in the first quarter, but the Dragons jumped out of the box for the next two quarters for the 54-35 win.

Senior Noah Haliburton hit 14 points to lead the Dragons, and Erik Farias and Zander Werkman each hit 10. A junior, Werkman tops the Dragons’ roster at 6’4”.

Senior Caleb Berquist led the Bulldogs with 10 points, and Kelan Becker hit eight.

Saturday in the home show Carson Cloaninger finished with 22 points, including six shots from outside the three-point arch.

At Asotin Friday night, the Crusaders pegged the 82-78 win in two overtimes. Josh Maynard of the Crusaders led all scorers with 29 points and figures to be a player of interest when the NWC crew arrives in Colfax.
