Albion-Shawnee link cut by high water

Whitman County Public Works closed the Albion-Parvin Road Tuesday between Albion and Shawnee Road where the South Fork of the Palouse River has washed out the road.

The washout occurred late last week, and the county closed one lane at the site about a mile north of Albion.

On Tuesday at 11 a.m., the other lane was closed to through-traffic.

Public Works will now monitor the situation until the water recedes.

“This is not a spot where it's a quick fix,” said Mark Storey, Public Works director.
