Scout Cai now No. 2 in pentathlon

Colfax High School graduate Scout Cai, now a sophomore at Seattle Pacific, has been named Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the week for her performance Friday in the pentathlon at the NCAA Division II Invitational at the University of Washington. Cai finished with 3,709 points to rank number two in the nation for qualifiers in the division. Her total garnered a third-place finish in the UW event.

She set personal bests in four of the five events, with an 8.39 in the 60 meters, 34-5.5 in the shot, 18-2.75 in the long jump and 2:21.37 in the 800 meters.

Friday’s entry at the UW invitational was the third time Cai has entered the pentathlon event.
