Clinton reports 2017 tax tally

Whitman County Treasurer Mark Clinton gave a 2017 tax report to county commissioners Monday. Collections totaled $52,015,376.20 for the property tax roll with a 97.68 percent rate of collection.

He noted 2017 tax refunds for the county totaled $14,734.99, a number which also includes money from previous years, depending on certain entities with exempt status.

“As of Dec. 31, I don’t see any uncollectable personal property taxes at this point,” Clinton said.

A process is now underway to contact those with outstanding tax bills.

The county treasurer reports tax numbers to county commissioners once per year, according to state law.
