Weight restrictions lifted west of 195

Road weight restrictions were lifted Monday on all county roads west of Highway 195 with two exceptions, Cache Creek Road and Ralph Henning Road.

The Whitman County Public Works Department institutes weight restrictions on roads every year as roads thaw in the late winter. The limits are posted to contain damage to the roadways.

This year, Public Works crews flipped the square, hinged-signs in early January on dozens of roads throughout the county. Once turned, the signs set a 19,500-pound load limit, lasting four to 10 weeks.
