Nine wrestlers qualified for the state Mat Classic and three won titles Saturday at the regional tournament in Reardan. The state final will be Friday and Saturday at the Tacoma Dome.
First-place finishers for Colfax were Kolby Sisk at 106, Nolan Burrill at 113 and Dane Hall at 170.
Sisk took the title with a third-round pin over Cory Perryman of Reardan.
Burrill placed first with a 13-7 decision over Sammy Marina of Northwest Christian.
Hall took the title in the 170 class with a pin over Seth Hill of Northwest Christian with five seconds left in the title clash after topping Collin Hooper of Reardan 8-1 in the semi-final round.
Second-place finishers were Kolby Slate at 126, Chris Jones at 152 and Augie Allenbach at 220. Also qualifying were Caden Noha of St. John, fourth at 145; Travis Knauff of Garfield/Palouse, fourth at 160, and Leo Huels, fourth at 182. Chayne Aeschliman placed fifth in the 220 class. Knauff Saturday forfeited out of his last match to allow more heal time for a sore shoulder before the state competition.
The four qualifiers from the Reardan regional will be among eight other finalist in each weight class in the starting grid at Tacoma. Three entrants will be from the central regional, and five will be from the west side of the state.
The wrestling team plans to depart today to get ready for Friday’s start at the dome.
