Wounded CdA officer was raised in Colfax

Charles (Charlie) Hatley, the Coeur d’Alene police officer who was wounded in an exchange of gunfire March 6, was raised in Colfax. He is the son of Gary Hatley and Sheri Hatley and the grandson of Clyde and Sherry Hatley.

His uncle, Craig Hatley of Colfax, visited Charles at the hospital Wednesday where the officer is recovering.

Hatley had been employed with the sheriff’s jail staff at Coeur d’Alene before joining the Coeur d’ Alene police department. He had been called to the shooting scene as one of the backup officers for a traffic stop which erupted into an exchange of gunfire. The suspe...
