Idaho firm gets county asphalt job

Whitman County commissioners approved a bid March 5 for 1,305 total tons of two types of liquid asphalt from Idaho Asphalt at Hauser, Idaho. Idaho Asphalt bid $641,100 while Western States Asphalt of Spokane Valley bid $672,130.

The bid included $4,458 in hazardous materials tax.

One type of the asphalt is used for chip-sealing existing roads while another is used for “penetration shots” of gravel and oil.
