An oil painting by LaCrosse sophomore Matea Enzweiler received honorable mention in the Educational Service District 101 art competition in Spokane. Her painting, entitled Embers, depicts a Native American woman and child in front of a fire.

She will be among artists honored Monday at the ESD office.

The ESD art entries are on display at the district office at 4202 S. Regal in Spokane.

Matea resides with her grandparents, David and Margaret Enzweiler, in LaCrosse.

A baseball double header will be at LaCrosse next Friday, March 30. Games will start at 2 and 4 p.m. The senior class will be selling concessions, hamburgers and hotdogs.
