The Colton softball team is 2-0 on the year after a three-inning 25-0 rainout and a narrow 6-4 win Tuesday to open league play.
Starting the year at Asotin March 22, the Wildcats faced one pitcher, then another, then another, then another as they built a 15-0 lead in the second inning. By the end of the third, it was 25-0 and raining.
A new WIAA rule took effect: if the two coaches agree beforehand, the rule is if a team is up 15 runs after three innings the game may be called.
The two coaches actually had not discussed it, but the umpires made an exception.
